Perspicacity is an automation and AI consultancy based in Vancouver, BC. We design, build, and deploy production-grade solutions for organizations where "it mostly works" isn't an acceptable standard — financial services, logistics, property management, and other industries where the data is messy, the compliance requirements are real, and the processes were never simple to begin with.
Why "Perspicacity"
The word means having keen insight, particularly the things other people overlook.
Most automation projects don't fail because the technology was wrong. They fail because nobody looked closely enough at the process before deciding to automate it. They paved the cow path. They built a faster version of something that shouldn't exist.
We started this consultancy because we kept seeing the same pattern: organizations spending six figures to automate workflows that should have been redesigned first. Intelligent people buying intelligent tools and getting unintelligent outcomes — not because the tools were bad, but because the diagnosis was skipped.
So we made the diagnosis the product. Every engagement starts with understanding the work as it actually happens — not as the process document says it should. That's where the real value is, and it's where most consultancies don't bother to look.
Where We Come From
Our roots are in mathematics, computer science, and a decade of building digital products in industries where the rules are complicated and the consequences of getting it wrong are not theoretical.
We've designed and delivered automation, AI, and cloud solutions across financial services, digital banking, anti-money laundering, agriculture, transport, and luxury goods. Seven years in regulated financial environments taught us that the gap between a working demo and a production system is where most projects go to die. More than a decade in luxury industries taught us that the details people don't notice consciously are exactly the ones that determine whether they trust you.
That combination — engineering rigour from finance, obsessive attention to detail from luxury — is what we bring to every engagement. It's an unusual background. It turns out to be a very useful one.
How We're Built
We keep the team senior and the engagements focused. The people who scope the work are the people who build it. There's no handoff to a B-team, no offshore surprise at week three, and no account manager whose job is to upsell you.
When a project needs specialist capabilities — a particular cloud platform, a specific compliance framework, a niche integration — we bring in trusted technical partners who've worked with us before and operate to the same standard. The work stays lean, the communication stays direct, and the accountability stays exactly where it should be.
This is a deliberate choice. We've seen how large consultancies operate from the inside, and we built something different on purpose.
